This Sword belonged to a wealthy Army Heer Artillery Officer who commanded the Artillery Regiment of the 3rd Artillery Battalion, 17th Infantry Division Wehrmacht.  Maker Marked Original Eickhorn Solingen.  Lion head pattern with brass hilt And ruby red eyes, shows very light wear to the well detailed lion head pommel, floral\/geometric motifs on body-strap and knuckle-bow, and open wing eagle on obverse langet.  Eagle is facing to his right so dates the sword to after 1936 time period.  Black celluloid grip shows light surface wear with no cracks or chips and is complete with tight triple twisted wire wrap.  Wide, curved, plated, double-etched Reichswehr pattern blade measuring 32 1\/4″ in length grades excellent ++ showing only minor surface wear with no lifting or nicks to cutting edge and no crimps to the sheath or tip of the blade.  Blade is complete and inscribed on both sides and along the spine. Obverse blade features a 14 1\/4” long etch panel consisting of floral and geometric motifs, two sections of gorgeous bluing inscribed \"III.\/Art.
