American Revolutionary War Era Spontoon Spear Ringed Base Early -Mid 18th C

This American Revolutionary War era or earlier 18th-century leaf-blade Spontoon spear halberd is an attractive polearm head mounted on a later wooden shaft. The head features a leaf-shaped spear blade with a thin ricasso, a beautifully formed base ring design, and two rivets securing the head to the shaft. The head sits slightly tilted off center, noted for accuracy. The later shaft allows the early iron head to be displayed in proper polearm form while preserving its strong 18th-century visual character.
