This American Revolutionary War era 18th-century Spontoon with spear point polearm head is an unusual and highly displayable example featuring one upturned and one downturned crossguard est. circa 1755-1783. The head is built with a strong base and is mounted to a later wooden pole by ten riveted metal straps, creating a reinforced and visually impressive hafting system. The straps are engraved with the owner’s initials “BOL”, adding a desirable personalized element and giving the piece additional research potential. The combination of spear point, opposing guard elements, reinforced strapping, and owner initials makes this a distinctive polearm within the Revolutionary War era collecting field.
