This antique iron smokehouse padlock features a distinctive swivel keyhole cover stamped with a crown emblem, “VR,” and the maker’s mark “A. Thompson.” The lock is paired with a barrel-style key and has the rugged construction and utilitarian character associated with early padlocks.
The lock is in working order and uses a mechanical locking mechanism operated by the key. Measuring approximately 3.25 inches high including the shackle by 2.5 inches wide, it makes an interesting piece of antique hardware with its traditional form and aged surface.
The crown and VR markings add to the historical character of the piece, while the original-style construction and working mechanism make it an appealing collectible for enthusiasts of antique locks and early hardware.
