Antique Davenport Mallory & Co. D.M. Heart-Shaped Iron Padlock with Key

This antique Davenport Mallory & Co. heart-shaped iron padlock is marked “D.M. & Co.” on its keyhole cover and features a distinctive heart-shaped body with a dark, naturally aged rust patina. Davenport Mallory & Co. was a New Haven, Connecticut lock manufacturer, and surviving examples of its padlocks are collected as 19th-century American hardware.

The padlock measures approximately 3.5 inches high including the shackle by 2.5 inches wide and retains its original key. Its unusual heart-shaped form and brass keyhole cover make it a particularly distinctive example of early American lockmaking.

The mechanism is currently jammed, so the lock is being offered in its present condition. The combination of its uncommon shape, original key, maker's marking, and aged iron patina gives this piece strong appeal as a collectible display item.
