An outstanding and finely preserved Bronze Age Short Sword from the Luristan culture, dating to circa 1800–1200 B.C. Crafted in a high-tin bronze alloy, this elegant weapon features a straight, tapering blade with central ridge, terminating in a well-formed hilt suitable for inlay or organic grip attachment (now lost to time). The blade retains sharp definition, with crisp edges and a uniform greenish patina indicative of long burial and exceptional preservation. Its overall condition is remarkable for an artifact over 3,000 years old.

Luristan, located in the western region of modern-day Iran, was known for its sophisticated bronze metallurgy during the late second millennium B.C. Weapons like this short sword were not only functional tools of war but also symbols of rank and status among tribal elites. Luristan bronzes are highly collectible for their artistic and historical value, and their influence is visible across adjacent cultures from Mesopotamia to Central Asia.

This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire an authentic, investment-grade Bronze Age weapon from one of the ancient world's most enigmatic and influential cultures.

Provenance: Private English collection since the 1970s; acquired from an Antique Centre in York
