The forged iron head measures approximately 13 3/8 inches in length and is mounted on a later 45-inch wooden pole, for an impressive overall length of approximately 58 inches. The head features a graceful leaf-shaped blade with a pronounced central ridge on one face and a flat reverse, a forged conical socket pierced for a securing pin, and distinctive hooked basal lugs forming the classic military fork profile. Two faint but visible maker or blacksmith's marks are struck near the base of the blade, offering intriguing opportunities for further research and possible attribution. The form closely matches examples illustrated in George C. Neumann's Swords & Blades of the American Revolution, including examples #97.PA, #100.PA, #104.PA, and #111.PA, making this an outstanding representative of early American military polearms.
