Early German WW2 Hitler Youth Jungvolk Belt Buckle by Assmann - Stamped RZM 17

This outstanding German WWII Hitler Youth Jungvolk belt buckle is an early, heavy example manufactured by Assmann & Sohne of Ludenscheid and properly RZM stamped RZM 17. The die-struck steel buckle retains its nickel-silver wash and features the classic HJ-style national eagle with down-swept wings clutching the HJ diamond, set on a slightly pebbled field. Surrounding the central motif is a ribbed circular border with simulated twisted rope trim and the embossed Gothic-script motto "Blut und Ehre" to the upper arc. The reverse is a mirror image of the obverse and retains its original brazed catch, prong bar, and prongs, all intact. The reverse markings are clear and correct, impressed with "A A&S", "Ges. Gesch.", and "RZM 17". Condition is excellent for an issued piece, showing honest age and light service wear with a few small spots to the face consistent with use.

The Hitler Youth organization evolved from early NSDAP youth movements formed in the early 1920s and was officially established as the Hitlerjugend in 1926. As the organization became increasingly formalized and militarized, standardized uniform elements were introduced, including the distinctive belt buckle adopted in 1933. Early production buckles such as this example were manufactured to a higher standard, with heavier construction and superior detailing compared to later wartime issues. Assmann & Sohne was among the most respected makers of Third Reich insignia, and their properly marked HJ buckles are considered premium examples within the collecting community.
