Rare Early US Vietnam War commemorative banner dated 1966, issued in recognition of the 2nd Anniversary of the formation of the 1st Republic of Korea (ROK) Corps in Vietnam. The banner bears the printed inscription: “COMMEMORATION 2ND ANNIVERSARY 1 ROK CORPS.” Produced during the early escalation phase of the conflict, this piece reflects the significant multinational cooperation between United States forces and allied South Korean units operating in Vietnam.

The Early US Vietnam War Commemorative Banner – 2nd Anniversary 1st ROK Corps Formation – 1966 relates to the overall command structure of South Korean forces in Vietnam rather than a single combat unit. The 1st ROK Corps served as the controlling headquarters for major South Korean formations deployed to the theater, including the elite Capital (Tiger) Division, the Marine Blue Dragon Brigade, and the 9th Infantry (White Horse) Division. These units operated primarily in the I Corps (northern) and II Corps (central) regions from 1965–1973, earning a reputation for aggressive combat operations, effective counterinsurgency measures, and securing strategic areas alongside U.S. forces. The banner remains in good overall condition, with clear printed text and graphics, showing expected age-related wear consistent with period commemorative display use.

A rare and historically significant early-war multinational commemorative piece highlighting the important role of South Korean forces in Vietnam. An excellent addition to a serious Vietnam War Collection, particularly one focused on Allied Forces Militaria or ROK participation in the conflict.
