This appears to be a rare WWII-era Waffen-SS M1935 combat helmet, believed to retain much of its wartime configuration and attributed to “Peter Spiller”. The helmet features a combat-sized shell with the factory-stamped lot number “385” on the inner rim and a stamped liner size of “56”. The original leather liner remains intact, though the tie strings are missing.
The paint shows wear patterns consistent with wartime use and age, with the shell and liner exhibiting appropriate patina. While no postwar restoration is noted, the originality of the finish has not been conclusively verified. Named Waffen-SS helmets are particularly desirable, and this example presents as an honest period piece based on visible features and wear.
The M1935 helmet was the standard issue for German forces in the early years of the war, before evolving into the simplified M1940 and M1942 patterns. Waffen-SS variants often followed the same production path, with some units applying additional field camouflage or removing decals per later directives.
