The helmet is fitted with its complete original liner, marked size 57, along with its original chinstrap, making it an exceptionally desirable and well-preserved example. The Luftschutz decal remains approximately 85-90% intact, exhibiting only a minor area of wear to the upper right while maintaining outstanding display appeal. The Luftschutz, or Air Protection organization, served a critical role within Germany's civil defense system during the Second World War. Members were responsible for air raid protection, firefighting assistance, rescue operations, and the safeguarding of civilians during Allied bombing campaigns. Their distinctive blue-gray helmets bearing the Luftschutz insignia have become some of the most recognizable pieces of German civil defense equipment from the period.
