This authentic German Black and White Morion Helmet, dating from the late 16th to early 17th century, exemplifies the craftsmanship and martial aesthetics of Renaissance Europe. Characterized by its high-combed crest and open-faced design, this helmet was a staple among infantry units, particularly pikemen and town guards.

The helmet's skull is formed in two pieces, joined at the high central comb, and features a wide brim that curves upward at the front and rear—a design both functional and emblematic of the period. Decorative elements include embossed motifs, such as stars surrounded by raised dots and bordered with wave patterns, all finished "in the white" against a blackened background. This "black and white" coloration was not merely decorative but also denoted the wearer's allegiance and unit.

Such helmets were prevalent among the watchmen of larger towns and cities, serving both protective and ceremonial purposes. The Morion's design offered practical protection while allowing for visibility and maneuverability in battle. Its curved brim helped deflect blows and projectiles, and the high comb reinforced the helmet's structure.
