German "Deutsche Reichsbahn" (German National Railway) Collar Tabs | German WW2

This original pair of German WWII Deutsche Reichsbahn collar tabs is constructed of black velvet with red wool edges and backing, centered with brass winged railway wheel emblems. The design corresponds to the 1935 pattern introduced with updated uniforms for the German National Railway service. The tabs retain strong color and structure, with the brass devices well seated and visually striking. These tabs in this condition are super rare and an amazing display piece from one of the most sought after period of history. The Deutsche Reichsbahn was a critical component of Germany's wartime infrastructure, responsible for transportation of troops, equipment, and supplies across occupied Europe. After Hitler's accession to power in 1933 he immediately began a restructuring of the national railway system and by early 1937 had succeeded in achieving a centralized efficient National Railway. With this restructuring new uniforms and insignia were introduced for railway personnel in 1933. Additional items of insignia were introduced and modified at various times throughout the war. Uniform insignia from the Reichsbahn reflects the militarization of civilian services during the Third Reich. Collar tabs from this organization are far less common than standard military insignia, adding to their appeal.
