This is an original pair of WWII-era German Landforstmeister shoulder boards (Schulterstücke), the rank insignia for a Forestry Commissioner or Chief Forest Ranger in the Reich Forestry Service (Reichsforstdienst). The boards are constructed with dark green wool underlay and silver bullion cords interwoven in the traditional administrative pattern, each affixed with two silvered acorn devices—symbols of rank and seniority within the forestry hierarchy. Light wear is present, consistent with gentle use, but overall condition is excellent with strong color and intact stitching.
Under the Third Reich, the Reich Forestry Service played an essential bureaucratic and ideological role, reflecting the regime’s fixation with "blood and soil" nationalism and control over natural resources. Officials in this role were often career bureaucrats responsible for managing large state forests and hunting territories. High-ranking forestry officials like the Landforstmeister held status nearly equivalent to military officers and wore elaborate insignia reflecting their authority.
These shoulder boards are a superb example of this seldom-seen branch of the Nazi administrative structure and are highly sought after by collectors for their uniqueness and craftsmanship.
