This German WWII 2nd Model Luftwaffe officer dress dagger is a near mint example complete with its scabbard and a good set of velvet-backed brocade hanging straps. The blade is unmarked but remains fine and bright, displaying extremely well. The dagger shows only slight looseness to the hilt wire braiding close to the ricasso, as shown in the photos. The included hangers feature higher-quality fittings with oak leaf relief, with some wear to the brocade and velvet backing, but they remain attractive and display beautifully with the dagger.
The 2nd Model Luftwaffe dagger was one of the defining officer dress sidearms of the German Air Force during the Second World War. Worn for parade, formal service, walking-out dress, and ceremonial occasions, the dagger reflected both officer status and branch identity. Complete examples with scabbard and hangers are especially desirable because the suspension straps were often separated, worn heavily, or lost over time. Oak leaf relief fittings add an additional level of visual richness to the full officer rig.
This is a clean, highly presentable Luftwaffe officer dagger that offers the complete look collectors prefer. The near mint condition, fine blade, attractive scabbard, and velvet-backed brocade hangers create a strong display ensemble suitable for a premier WWII German edged weapon collection.
