This exceptional German World War II Artillery General Officer overcoat is a beautifully preserved gabardine example with striking red artillery branch accents and impressive general officer shoulder boards. The coat presents with a refined gray body, vibrant red interior facing, dark collar, and a full complement of bright pebbled buttons. The shoulder boards are especially attractive, displaying the ornate gold and silver braided construction associated with German general officer rank, set over a red artillery branch underlay. The collar, stitching, lapels, buttons, and overall tailoring remain exceptionally sharp, giving the piece a commanding and highly formal presentation. This is a very fine wartime overcoat with the kind of visual presence and preservation that immediately stands out in an advanced uniform collection.

German officer overcoats were both practical field garments and strong symbols of rank, branch, and military status. General officers wore distinctive shoulder boards and high-grade tailored garments that set them apart from standard enlisted and lower officer issue. The red Waffenfarbe was traditionally associated with artillery, one of the most important combat arms of the German Army. During World War II, artillery officers played a central role in operational planning, battlefield support, and large-scale fire coordination, and uniforms connected to senior artillery command are particularly desirable due to their strong visual identity and historical significance.
