This is a rare, authentic German WW2 Close Combat Clasp in Silver, die-struck from zinc alloy in the Peekhaus design by the firm FLL (Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid). Measuring 3.75 inches, it features a central eagle over crossed bayonet and grenade, surrounded by oak leaves. The reverse retains its soldered hinge, broad tapering pin, and oval catch plate, with minor patina typical of wartime zinc awards. The back plate remains present and intact.
Introduced on November 25, 1942, the Close Combat Clasp was awarded to Wehrmacht personnel who engaged in sustained hand-to-hand combat without armored support. The silver grade denoted 30 days of close combat, making it a significant and prestigious award, often worn by frontline veterans of the brutal Eastern Front.
