These EXTREMELY rare German WWII Diplomatic Corps collar tabs were worn exclusively on the Formal Evening Dress Uniform, distinguishing members of the Reich's diplomatic service from other branches of government and military authority. The tabs measure approximately 1.5 inches wide by 4.25 inches tall each and exhibit correct period construction consistent with high-level ceremonial insignia.
The Diplomatic Corps occupied a unique position within the Third Reich, operating outside the standard military hierarchy while still maintaining strict uniform regulations and insignia distinctions. Collar tabs for formal wear were reserved for elite functions, official receptions, and state occasions, making them among the least commonly encountered uniform components.
Original Diplomatic Corps insignia are scarce and highly collectible due to limited production and specialized use. These collar tabs represent an uncommon and refined example of Third Reich formal dress accoutrements, well suited for advanced collectors of German diplomatic or high-level government insignia.
Provenance:We were privileged to receive first right of refusal on an expansive and long-held Texas WWII veteran collection, assembled over a lifetime by a gentleman in his 80s who recently chose to part with his holdings in full. Opportunities to acquire intact collections of this depth and integrity are exceedingly rare, and we secured the collection in its entirety. Within it were exceptionally scarce and highly unusual pieces of German wartime memorabilia seldom encountered on the open market.
