This is an original German WWII-era NS-RKB member’s breast eagle, a period insignia worn by members of the National Socialist Reichskriegerbund (NS-RKB) — the veterans’ organization of the Third Reich that united former Empire and First World War servicemen under a centralized social and ceremonial body during the Nazi era. Breast eagles such as this were worn on tunics, jackets, or veteran’s uniforms to denote formal membership in the RKB.
This example features the characteristic spread-winged national eagle with its head facing to the right, clutching a wreath encircling a swastika, executed in a raised design with strong relief. The detailing to the feathers, body, and wreath elements remains clearly defined and consistent with original wartime manufacture for veteran or political-affiliated breast insignia. The reverse retains its original attachment pins, suitable for period uniform application. Overall presentation remains strong, making this a desirable and authentic example of WWII German political/veterans’ association insignia, well suited for collectors of Third Reich militaria.
