This WW2 German General Assault Badge (Sturmabzeichen) with award document, was awarded to Unteroffizier Frank Beyer of the 253rd Infantry Division on October 10, 1941. Signed by the division’s Major General and awarded by both the Division Commander and Major General for personnel that supported German infantry operations during WW2.
Introduced in 1940, the General Assault Badge was awarded to soldiers who participated in at least three combat assaults but were not part of infantry units. It features a national eagle clutching a swastika, superimposed over a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, symbolizing frontline engagement and participation in direct infantry operations.
This professionally matted and framed presentation honors a significant piece of German military history, commemorating the combat achievements of non-infantry units during WW2.
