This rare pair of German WW2 Infantry Officer (Oberleutnant / First Lieutenant) shoulder boards features the coveted Hoch- und Deutschmeister-Kreuz (Stalingrad Cross), an honorary distinction worn by members of the Reichsgrenadier-Division Hoch- und Deutschmeister following its reconstitution after the destruction of the 44th Infantry Division at Stalingrad.

One shoulder board retains its die-stamped silvered-iron Stalingrad Cross, lacquered and magnetic, showing moderate, honest wear and remaining in very fine condition. The insignia commemorated one of the most devastating battles of the Second World War and was awarded to personnel of the division raised in 1943 to preserve the legacy of the destroyed unit.

Examples of officer shoulder boards with original Stalingrad Crosses are exceedingly scarce, and surviving pairs with intact insignia and documented veteran provenance are seldom offered. This is a uniform-cut veteran bring-back, representing a powerful and historically significant relic tied directly to one of the most consequential events of the war.
