This is a German WW2 Iron Cross 2nd Class (EK II) with its original ribbon, featuring an unmarked suspension ring, a common feature among field-awarded or late-war produced examples.
This piece was brought back by a U.S. veteran and remains in good condition with minor age patina on the frame and ribbon.
Instituted in 1939 by Adolf Hitler, the Iron Cross 2nd Class was awarded for acts of bravery or exemplary service in combat and was among the most recognized military decorations of the Third Reich. Unlike the higher grades, the EK II was typically worn only on the ribbon and not as a neck or breast-mounted award. It served as an entry-level commendation for soldiers who demonstrated valor on the battlefield during major operations across Europe and North Africa.
