A German WW2 Iron Cross Second Class (Eisernes Kreuz II Klasse / EK2) in excellent condition, brought back by a U.S. veteran. The iron core retains its original black finish, surrounded by a silvered frame with light aging. The ribbon loop is intact!
Instituted on September 1, 1939, by Adolf Hitler, the EK2 was awarded for acts of bravery or leadership in combat. The design follows a legacy dating back to 1813 and is one of the most recognizable military decorations of WWII. Unlike the First Class version, the EK2 was worn on a ribbon from a buttonhole and not pinned directly to the tunic.
