This WW2 German Luftwaffe Pilot’s Badge, awarded to Sergeant Ernst Badenfeld on August 10, 1941, is professionally matted and framed alongside its original award document, signed by Luftwaffe General Albert Kesselring (likely stamped). The badge features the classic silver eagle clutching a swastika, surrounded by a gold wreath, distinguishing it from the standard Pilot’s Badge.
The Luftwaffe Pilot’s Badge was awarded to aviators who completed flight training and obtained a pilot’s license. Established in 1935, it became a symbol of elite German airmen. Pilots wore the badge on the left breast pocket of their uniforms, marking their qualification as a symbol of status and combat capabilities.
This example, having its original wartime documentation professionally framed for presentation, is a significant piece of the German aerial history and the Luftwaffe’s airmen during the height of WW2.
