This authentic German WWII SS Officer brocade belt buckle is a finely crafted brass example, bearing correct RZM SS markings and a clip stamped “230/41.” The buckle is complete with its two silver belt keepers, each properly marked “SS” and “900,” indicating period-correct silver content. The overall construction and markings are consistent with known officer-grade SS buckles produced during the early war years, with possible attribution to Wilhelm Thiele, though no definitive maker claim is asserted beyond the markings present.
SS officer buckles were privately purchased items, distinct from enlisted examples, and were produced to a higher standard using brass and silvered fittings. These buckles were worn with brocade belts as part of the formal SS officer uniform and were never mass-produced in the same quantities as EM/NCO buckles. Surviving complete examples, especially those retaining original belt holders and legible markings, are increasingly scarce on the collector market.
This piece represents a high-quality and historically important example of SS officer uniform equipment and is a meaningful addition to any WWII German or SS-focused collection.
