This German WWII SS officer dress dagger was produced by the scarce Solingen maker Rich. Abr. Herder and is accompanied by its scabbard, snap hanger, and intact belt loop. The dagger retains strong display presence, with noted wooden chips to the grip near the SS roundel on the front, near the lower ricasso area, and a larger chip to the reverse of the hilt. These losses do not significantly detract from the front-facing presentation when displayed. The scabbard retains over 50 percent of its original black painted finish, giving the piece a strong period appearance with honest age and wear.

The SS dress dagger was one of the most recognizable ceremonial edged weapons of the Third Reich period, worn as a symbol of membership, status, and ideological identity within the organization. Examples by less commonly encountered Solingen makers such as Rich. Abr. Herder are particularly appealing to advanced edged weapon collectors, as maker scarcity, originality, and retained accessories all play important roles in desirability. The presence of the hanger and belt loop further enhances the completeness of this example as a display piece.

With its scarce maker attribution, original scabbard, snap hanger, and intact belt loop, this SS officer dress dagger remains a strong and desirable example despite the noted grip chips. Its front-facing presentation, maker interest, and surviving accessories make it a compelling acquisition for collectors of WWII German edged weapons.
