This is an original 1915-dated German World War I ammunition pouch, produced in the standard three-compartment belt configuration used by Imperial German infantry. This pouch was used for the Gewehr 98 and alike magazines. Constructed from durable blackened leather, the pouch is field-worn yet structurally sound, with individual flaps and strap closures for each ammo section. The reverse side retains both leather belt loops and bears a stamped marking from Elsenfeld, along with “W.C.C.” impressions, likely depot or regimental issue identifiers.

Designed specifically to hold stripper clips for the Gewehr 98 rifle, this pouch exemplifies the practicality and ruggedness of WWI trench gear. The blackened leather treatment helped preserve the pouch under the harsh conditions of prolonged combat. Pouches like this were carried in pairs on either side of the belt, giving German soldiers quick access to ammunition during engagements.

Well-marked, early-dated examples like this have become increasingly scarce on the collector’s market—especially those retaining clear production and location stamps. A strong representative piece of Imperial German equipment from the Great War.

Dimensions: Approx. 4.5" tall x 8.75" wide x 2.5" deep
Dated: 1915
Origin: Elsenfeld, Germany
