This is an original Imperial German WWI Enlisted Man’s “Gott Mit Uns” belt buckle, issued during World War I (1914–1918) for use by enlisted personnel of the Imperial German Army. Buckles of this type were standard uniform components and reflect the monarchic symbolism and traditions of the Kaiserreich during the First World War.
The buckle features a rectangular brass base fitted with a circular central medallion. At the center is a detailed Prussian crown, framed by the raised inscription “GOTT MIT UNS” (“God Is With Us”). Beneath the crown is a laurel spray, symbolizing honor and service. This crown-only configuration is characteristic of certain Imperial enlisted buckles and differs from later eagle-based designs, emphasizing loyalty to the Prussian monarchy and the divine right of rule. A solid and authentic example suitable for an Imperial German militaria collection, representing a classic enlisted belt buckle from the First World War era.
