The design features a white-petaled edelweiss flower with a yellow center, surrounded by a simulated mountaineer’s rope border with a piton at the top. The badge was worn on the right sleeve of the uniform by mountain troops and became one of the most recognizable pieces of Gebirgsjäger insignia.
