This is an original German Luftwaffe Paratrooper Fallschirmjäger Badge, a qualification emblem awarded to Luftwaffe personnel who successfully completed the required parachute training and jumping tests instituted in November 1936. The badge served as a visible symbol of airborne proficiency and was worn on the left breast pocket by qualified paratroopers of Germany’s elite airborne forces in WW2.
This example features a lovely, naturally patinated finish overall, with the classic design consisting of a half oak leaf and half laurel leaf wreath surrounding a dramatic diving eagle clutching a swastika at center. The brass eagle is securely attached to the wreath with two fully intact rivets, and the reverse is maker marked “G.H. OSANG DRESDEN,” identifying manufacture by G. H. Osang of Dresden, a known period producer. It retains its original needle-style vertical pinback with barrel hinge and bent metal pin catch. This badge is an authentic and historically significant WWII-era German military award, well suited for collectors of Third Reich memorabilia.
