This original German WWII SA Sports Badge in Silver is a classic and highly collectible example, die-struck in magnetic metal and retaining much of its original silver wash. The reverse is clearly marked “KARL HENSLER, Pforzheim”, along with the correct third-pattern inscription “Eigentum der Obersten S.A. Führung”, confirming official national-issue status.
The badge retains its correct reverse hardware, including a raised soldered catch and vertical pin, all consistent with period manufacture. The obverse displays strong detail across the wreath, sword, and central device, offering excellent visual presence.
Historical Context
The SA Sports Badge was instituted on November 28, 1933, under SA-Stabschef Ernst Röhm, and later elevated to official national status in 1935 by Adolf Hitler. It was awarded to SA, SS, and later civilian participants who met demanding standards in physical fitness, military readiness, and field exercises. The silver grade represents a higher level of achievement and is notably less common than bronze examples.
