Original medieval European iron crossbow bolt head, commonly referred to as a quarrel. This example features a narrow oak leaf–shaped blade, a form commonly associated with medieval European crossbow ammunition designed to balance penetration with cutting capability. Such shapes were widely employed for military use across Europe during the medieval period.
Hand-forged from iron, the bolt head displays correct period construction and proportions. A large shear crack is present near the tip, consistent with high-impact stress incurred during historical use or burial conditions. The surface exhibits expected age-related oxidation and mineralization, with no evidence of modern restoration. A genuine example of medieval European crossbow weaponry, suitable for advanced collections, study, or display alongside medieval arms and armor.
