This is a beautiful and early German WW2 Officer Dress Ceremonial Dagger, complete with a rare burgundy portepee (dagger knot) signifying service with either the Land Customs Official (Zollgrenzschutz) or the Fire Brigade (Feuerwehr). The dagger is accompanied by its original leather frog hanger, and all components present exceptionally well.
The blade is a high-quality Solingen-made example by Carl Eickhorn, displaying a bright, heavy blade in excellent condition with crisp details and strong visual appeal. The black metal sheath retains approximately 75% of its original finish and remains in very good condition, showing only minor age-related wear.
The burgundy portepee is an uncommon and highly desirable feature, immediately setting this dagger apart from standard Heer or Luftwaffe dress examples. Its presence adds significant historical and collector value, as these variants were produced in smaller numbers and are far less frequently encountered on the market.
This dagger represents an outstanding example of early-war German ceremonial edged weapons and would make a centerpiece addition to any advanced Third Reich or German WWII collection.
