This rare German WWII M35 Army Heer single decal helmet is a named early-war example with shell lot number 081, an exceptionally early lot number that adds significant collector interest. The helmet retains its original liner, named to “Floisebmann” and “Range”, and includes the original chinstrap, with one side broken. The helmet was repainted from a brown desert color, suggesting possible service life across multiple theaters, with the evocative possibility of use from Europe to North Africa and back to Europe. The helmet shows honest age, wear, and service character throughout.
The M35 was the first of the major Third Reich steel helmet patterns and is widely regarded as the finest in terms of production quality, with rolled rim construction, separate ventilation bushings, and a refined shell profile. Early-war examples are especially desirable, and helmets showing layered paint history or theater repainting can offer fascinating insight into wartime reuse and adaptation. A brown desert repaint association strongly evokes the campaigns of North Africa, where German forces required tropicalized equipment suited to harsh climate and terrain.
With its early M35 shell, lot number 081, named liner, complete original liner system, partial chinstrap, and repaint history from brown desert color, this helmet is a highly compelling WWII German combat artifact. Its personal naming and possible theater transition make it an especially engaging piece for collectors of Heer helmets, Afrika campaign material, and early-war German combat headgear.
Provenance: Interior liner named to “Floisebmann” and “Range.”
