This is an original German WWII SA Sunwheel Swastika Brass Buckle, an early-war example issued for wear by members of the Sturmabteilung (SA) during the 1934–1936 period. Early SA buckles of this type are increasingly difficult to find, particularly in brass construction, and reflect the transitional years before later wartime simplifications and material changes.
The buckle features the distinctive SA sunwheel-style swastika motif within a circular wreath, a design closely associated with the early National Socialist movement and the SA’s role as the party’s original paramilitary organization. Worn on the brown uniform belt, this pattern symbolized loyalty to the movement and was used primarily during the formative pre-war and early-war years before standardized steel buckles became more common. Examples like this are well documented in period references and respected institutional collections. This piece represents a scarce and desirable early example of WWII-era German military award–related insignia, well suited for an SA and Third Reich militaria collection.
