This rare German World War II Third Reich Land Customs Official's Dress Sword was manufactured by WKC, Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie. of Solingen, one of the most respected edged weapon makers of the period. The sword features a highly attractive gilt brass hilt with ornate oak leaf decoration along the rear guard and P-style knuckle bow. The obverse langet is decorated with a prominent eagle clutching a wreath and swastika, while the reverse langet carries a decorative empty shield cartouche. The black grip retains its wire wrap and contrasts beautifully against the richly gilded fittings. The blade itself is in immaculate condition, remaining bright, clean, and exceptionally well preserved, making this a standout example among German dress swords of the era.

Land Customs officials served within the broader German customs and border control system, an organization responsible for revenue enforcement, border regulation, anti-smuggling work, and administrative authority along Germany's land frontiers. During the Third Reich period, many state and civil organizations adopted formal dress edged weapons for parade, ceremony, and official functions. Customs swords are encountered far less frequently than standard Heer officer swords, and their specialized organizational association gives them strong collector appeal. The WKC Solingen manufacture further enhances the desirability of this example, linking it to one of Germany's premier swordmaking firms.

This sword is not a common lion head or panther head Heer officer variant, but rather a much scarcer official dress sword with its own distinctive character and institutional history. While the hilt shows some minor nicks and handling wear along the crossguard and grip area, the sword retains tremendous overall presentation, with strong gilt finish, attractive oak leaf detailing, and an exceptional blade
