This is an original WWII Italian GIL (Gioventù Italiana del Littorio) Youth Dagger, a ceremonial bladed weapon worn by members of Italy’s Fascist youth organization during WWII. The GIL served as the primary youth movement of the Fascist regime, combining physical training, ideological instruction, and paramilitary-style activities, and daggers of this type were worn as part of official uniforms for formal and ceremonial occasions. This example is rare, particularly as a surviving period youth dagger.

The dagger follows the recognized GIL youth style, featuring a traditionally styled blade with the crossguard, ferrule, grip spine, and pommel in bronze gilt, the pommel nut in bronze, the pommel illustrating an eagle's head with feathering forming the grip spine, the wooden grip is painted black with seven recessed grooves, each of the grooves with two rows of straight wire flanking a row of twisted wire, the wires also in bronze gilt. Design elements reflect Fascist symbolism and youth-movement aesthetics intended to promote discipline, loyalty, and national identity. The sheath is missing, and there is slight damage present at the tip of the blade, both noted for accuracy and transparency.

Condition is consistent with age and period use, showing expected surface wear while retaining clear detail and a strong overall presentation. There is also some pitting at the tip of the blade. This dagger represents an authentic and historically significant example of WWII-era Italian Fascist militaria, well suited for collectors of European military artifacts.
