A beautifully rare Revolutionary War-era sword with musical and martial significance.
This exquisite 18th-century Officer’s Rapier—crafted in either France or England—was specially made for a military musician. It features an elaborate silver hilt with engraved musical instrument motifs and a twisted grip for comfort and elegance.
With a 30" engraved blade and 37" overall length, this piece blends form and function. While ceremonial in nature, it retains the characteristics of a capable weapon. Silver-hilted rapiers were extremely rare—fewer than 0.5% of all swords from this era—and even fewer were designed with this level of symbolic artistry.
A captivating artifact likely carried by a musical officer such as a violinist, this sword offers a rare intersection of battlefield utility and artistic culture. An outstanding addition to any collection of early American or Revolutionary War militaria.
