This is an original and extremely rare WWII-era Soviet Order of Kutuzov, 2nd Class, serial-numbered #1381. The medal features a multi-part silver and enamel construction with the profile of Russian Field Marshal Mikhail Kutuzov in the center, surrounded by radiating starbursts and enameled banners. The reverse shows the serial number and Soviet mint markings.

Instituted in July 1942, this prestigious award recognized successful defensive strategy and leadership among high-ranking Red Army officers. Named after the legendary general who repelled Napoleon during the 1812 invasion, the Order of Kutuzov carried significant symbolic weight in the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War narrative.

The 2nd Class was awarded sparingly, typically to divisional and corps-level commanders, for achieving operational victories against larger Axis forces. Early serial numbers like this example are exceptionally uncommon and often tied to documented wartime actions.

With fewer than 3,300 awarded during the entirety of WWII, the Order of Kutuzov 2nd Class stands among the most exclusive Soviet decorations. This example, #1381, is an outstanding historical relic from one of history's largest and bloodiest theaters of war.
