Rare Communist Viet Cong commemorative hanging banner flag dated 1967, representing the People’s Liberation Armed Forces of South Vietnam in conjunction with organized labor organizations supporting the revolutionary cause. The red silk field features gold embroidered Vietnamese text translating to: “THE ARMED FORCES OF THE LIBERATION OF SOUTH VIETNAM” (Communist VC Viet Cong) along with “LHCĐGP Southern VIETNAM TRADE UNION Federation – VIETNAM RAILWAY Workers Union.” The central device consists of a wheel cog emblem symbolizing industrial labor, incorporating internal insignia associated with the Southern liberation movement.
The Vietnam War Commemorative Flag of the People’s Liberation Armed Forces (Viet Cong) & Vietnam Railway Workers’ Union – 1967 is constructed in presentation style rather than field use, retaining gold fringe along three sides and intended for ceremonial display at organizational gatherings, congresses, or recognition events. The date 1967 appears beneath the lower inscription, firmly placing the piece within the height of the Vietnam War. The banner remains in very good overall condition, with strong coloration, intact fringe, and clear embroidered detail consistent with its age and ceremonial use. Such formally produced labor-military presentation flags were not mass-issued combat items and are seldom encountered today.
A rare and historically significant Vietnam War communist presentation banner that represents the political and military alliance of armed and labor organizations during the conflict. An excellent addition to a serious Vietnam War Collection, particularly one focused on North Vietnamese Militaria.
