WWII German MG 08 Maxim Machine Gun Barrel | Waffenamt Marked | Excellent Bore

Original World War II German MG 08 Maxim machine gun barrel, chambered in the standard German 7.92×57mm (8mm Mauser) cartridge. The MG 08 remained in widespread service throughout both World Wars, and original wartime components with strong markings and finish have become increasingly sought after by collectors of German militaria and historic firearms.

This barrel measures approximately 28 7/16 inches in overall length and retains numerous wartime German inspection and acceptance markings. One face of the barrel block is marked "S" over "3026.3" and a Reichsadler, while the opposite side is stamped "7,9" alongside a trapezoid proof mark. The brass bushing is marked with a Waffenamt acceptance stamp, and the barrel itself bears a column of three Waffenamt inspection marks above the markings "BSW 36" and "239K."

The MG 08 (Maschinengewehr 08) was Germany's standard heavy machine gun and one of the most recognizable crew-served weapons of the 20th century. Based on Hiram Maxim's revolutionary recoil-operated design, the MG 08 earned a reputation for reliability, durability, and sustained fire capability.
