A WWII-era Lappland Shield with original named award document, attractively framed for display. The shield itself is a late-war issue example with proper mounting and aged patina. The accompanying document is filled out to a named German soldier and shows light wear appropriate to its age.
Issued in 1945, the Lappland Shield is considered one of the rarest German campaign awards due to its local production in occupied Norway and Finland and limited timeframe. It was awarded to German forces who continued resistance in the Lapland region after Germany's surrender in May 1945. As a field-made decoration, genuine examples with original paperwork are scarce.
